Marlo Johnson
Marlo Johnson has been dancing for 29 years and has been an employee of Song and Dance, Inc for 9 years. She has studied dance at Broadway Dance Centre in New York, Jacksonville University, and the University of South Florida. At USF she received a Bachelor of Science in Dance Education and is certified to teach in the public school system. She has studied dance styles including ballet, modern, contemporary, lyrical, hip hop, jazz, tap, clogging, musical theatre, baton, acrobatics, gymnastics, african dance, belly dance, ethnic and folk dance, improvisation, and movement analysis. She has studied with artists such as Madam Darvash, Tony Coppola, Michael Foley, Laurie Ann Gibson, Geri Houlihan, Sifiso Kweyano, Liz Lerman, Finis Jhung, Chris Judd, Mia Michaels, Brice Mousset, Sandra Robinson, Shane Sparks, Gretchen Ward, and Ms. Vee. She has performed for Walt Disney World, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the National Football League, the University of South Florida, and several college bowl games, as well as televised events.
She is the Artistic Director, Choreographer, and Dancer for Asher Dance Eclectic, a professional dance company that incorporates and encourages persons with disabilities. She has also choreographed for other venues including plays, musicals, art schools, cheerleading squads, pageants and church functions. She has received several titles at dance competitions and awards for her choreography. She has toured and performed for events all over the east coast. Marlo has even educated and performed as a visiting artist for VSA Arts of Florida. She is excited about another year at Song and Dance, Inc and is looking forward to educating your child in a professional environment that is full of fun and hard work. MODERN

55 Min. Class Modern dance class levels 1 and 2 deriving from the expression of inner feeling. It is a free dance that is usually based on human movement. It is expressionistic, deliberate, and uses a focus on gravity. The class will combine the elements of modern dance, including the basic technique, fall and recovery, patterns, timing, focus, use of gravity, expressionism, and improvisation, as well as elements of post-modern and contemporary dance.
